Book Quality Guidelines
Listing your books at fair prices with accurate descriptions will ensure that your books sell quickly and smoothly. Buyers will be making their buying decisions based on the descriptions you provide, and it's essential that you accurately describe the condition of your book.
We provide you with a ratings scale to help you determine the quality of your book. Book Quality is based on a 6 point rating scale from Poor to New (see ratings below). It is your responsibility to accurately determine the condition of your book, both the interior and exterior, based on this rating scale. Additionally, when you list your book for sale you should submit any comments you feel may help the Buyer more accurately determine the condition of the book.
The following ratings are to be used by Sellers to rate their books:
New: This book must be in perfect condition, with no cover or binding damage of any kind (this means no scratches, creases, fading, and a clean and shiny cover and binding). The interior of the book must be in pristine condition as well, without any marking, writing, folding, highlights, creases or any other type of damage. Typically this book has never been read.
Excellent: This book appears to be new, with a clean and shiny cover and binding and no visible damage. The interior is in excellent condition as well, with no markings or highlighting of any kind on any pages, although some pages might have minor creases. This book has barely been used, if at all.
Good: This book appears to have been slightly used, with some slight wear and tear. The cover and binding are generally free of any markings or damage. The interior pages are clean, with no writing or markings; highlighting should be limited to one highlighted line per 10 pages of text. Whoever used this book obviously took very good care of it.
Average: This book appears used, with normal wear and tear on the cover including minor scratches, creases, and indented corners. The interior also appears used, with minimal writing and/or markings. There is moderate highlighting, with no more than one or two highlighted lines per page.
Fair: This book has clearly been heavily used, with some cover and binding damage including scratches and creases. The interior of the book is not missing any pages, but there are markings and writings, possibly even slight tears, in addition to significant highlighting, with up to 5 highlighted lines per page.
Poor / Unacceptable: This book is in terrible condition and cannot be sold. Any book that is missing a cover or any pages, has heavily damaged cover and/or binding, has any stains or mold, or is illegible or unusable in any way is not authorized for listing on the RenoBookExchange.com website.
Book Pricing Guidelines
We expect that you will price your books fairly and honestly. Try to base your pricing on what you would pay for the book you are listing.
Book Exchange Meeting
By listing your book for sale on our site you agree to the following terms: you will contact the buyer within 3 business days from the date they contact you to purchase the book; you will meet with the buyer in a safe public space at a reasonable meeting time you both agree to; you will charge the buyer no more than the listed price of the book; when your book is sold, you will remove the listing from our site within 10 business days, just log into your user account to do this. If we hear nothing further from you the listing will expire in eight (8) months. We reserve the right to pull book listings if we confirm that the book has been sold and you have not pulled the listing. Please note that the release of any Seller and Buyer Name and Contact information is provided only to arrange the exchange of the book, and may not be used for any other purpose.
Seller Payment Guidelines
All book listings will be paid for at the end of your listing session. This listing fee is non-refundable. RenoBookExchange.com is not responsible for any listed books that do not sell. If you have any questions about our policy Contact Us
Listing Fees
This fee is a flat fee per book listed that is charged only once at the time of listing. Should you decide to renew the listing after 6 months when it expires; the listing fee will apply again.
